Reading all the various approval ratings and polls and the vagaries of the ups and downs  swinging this this way, that way...all seemingly caused by one event that will be forgotten in 3 months and has zero long term effect just doesn't make sense to me. How do you vote on such an important issue as a change in government based on (in the long view) such a trivial thing?

I suppose it is my simplistic mind. I continually wonder why the current issues of the day are not seen by the American public from a Conservative versus Humanistic/Secular point of view because that is the crux of all the issues we face today.  From where I sit, the United States is in grave danger, both to our national security and moral values in our society.  The left’s ideological paradigm of Marxism/Socialism is not a platform which they can support politically, campaign on and win elections.  Thus, the left has created the Big Lie strategy, a system of demagoguery, demonizing opponents, attempts at creation of ‘class’ warfare,  big government entitlement programs and utilizing personal attack politics against all that oppose them.  Rarely do they present solutions for political issues, instead, we only hear constant criticism of those who do.  Their mantra is always ’elect us’ and we will implement positive changes in government to make your life better.  Their positive changes, when in power, is always the creation of vast bureaucracies  to manage their socialist programs which has cost Americans over $ 500 trillion dollars since  1950.

Election Outcome Blame?

If Republicans lose in November, many so-called conservatives who have spent the last year or more acting like whiny Democrats bear heavy responsibility for the defeat. It is one thing to disagree, but the shrill hysteria of  some on the right has resembled radical Democrats more than mature and reasoned conservatives. The victims (pray there are none) will not be "moderates," but more likely solid conservatives like Rick Santorum, Jim Talent, Geoff Davis, Ken Blackwell and the U.S. military.

Until we adjust to the reality of politics, that it is hard to get what you want without 60 seats in the Senate and stronger majorities in the House, then we need to accept incremental victories. Sadly, too many conservatives would rather prove their "independence" to the media by dumping on President Bush (whose governed far to the right of Reagan) and the GOP Congress (that has never raised taxes, supported supply-side economics, advanced pro-life and pro-family issues, put solid conservatives on the Federal bench and resolutely defended the country) than support them. Now there is real fear among this same group that Congress may soon be in the hands of the most radical Democrat party in history. What did you think would happen when your were constantly belittling the President and Republican Congress? Words and deeds do have consequences.

As a conservative Christian I will be voting a straight Republican ticket. I don't want NAMBLA Nancy Pelosi and Dick "Turban" Durbin deciding the direction of anything but the demise of the Democratic party. By the way, I been have a solid supporter of the President and the Republican Congress, because I have always realized how dangerous the Democrats are to the US. Unfortunately, too many so-called conservatives are apparently just waking up to that reality. Prayerfully, it is not too late.

Marriage Amendment

The voters of Wisconsin have a one-time privilege of influencing morality by voting yes on the proposed marriage amendment in this election.
 
The amendment is simply a matter of defining the qualifications and regulation of marriage. Many are the attacks by op-eds, liberals and left-wing news reporting in the elite media. We who support the amendment and the sanctity of marriage are called mean-spirited, intolerant, un-loving, hypocrites and more. A St. Paul Pioneer Press editorial said Christians ought to keep their preaching in their churches and out of the electoral process. That thinking denies moral people the right to vote and of free speech.
 
Gov. Jim Doyle said last week that the amendment was discriminatory. Yet, Doyle Obey, Kohl, and Feingold did not think it discriminatory to tax 65,000 Wisconsin married workers up to $2,000 a year more than singles. That was a lot of discrimination. The tax was reduced in spite of their votes, but the reduction expires in 2011 and will resume again without Congressional action.

One of the most vigorous proponents of same-sex unions is the ACLU (some call it the Anti-Christ Lawyers Union). I believe it advocates the decriminalization of pedophilia, incest, prostitution, solicitation, statutory rape and much more. Doyle twice vetoed bills banning same-sex marriage. Overrides failed by one and two votes. State Sen. Bob Jauch voted to sustain the vetoes.

Secular Humanism’s worshippers have long been teaching that sex is mandatory for fulfilled life and that there should be no restrictions on age or performance as long as it is consensual. I believe Secular Humanism is summed up as: Atheism, Evolution, Amorality, and Socialism or one world view. It made its first modern appearance in 1933, when 30 philosophers put forth the Humanist Manifesto I.  The first point reads, “Religious Humanists regard the universe as self-existing and not created.” Among the signers were R. Lester Mondale, Charles Francis Potter, and the father of modern public education, John Dewey.

Some of the most hypocritical statements made by homosexuals and their supporters are: “God made us this way.” “We have a gene that determines our sexuality.” “Any sexual behavior is good as long as the performers love each other.” My answer is: Don’t blame your performance on God. Six times Jesus Christ used the city of Sod*m as the ultimate expression of judgment. If homosexuals have a gene that determines their sexuality, do they have another that determines incest? Another for prostitution? Another for murder? Or did some genes mutate and result in pedophilia? Maybe some of the baser genes are “tolerant” and work in agreement in some of their actions?  Homosexuals do not know the meaning of love. They perform to fulfill lust and for self-gratification.

Nineteen states have passed marriage protection amendments. Wisconsin, make it 20.

Email from House Representative

This post is an email from my district's House representaive. I know that it was written by a staffer, but it is sure good to know the exact position that your representative has taken. It is not much, but at least I can let him know how I think about an issue and actually receive a response. I don't think enough of us are using this medium...if we did...then perhaps we could slowly get Republicans to act like Republicans.

Thank you for contacting me with your comments on illegal immigration and border security. I have received a significant amount of feedback from the 2nd Congressional District on this issue and I can assure you that this issue is one of my top priorities during the 109th Congress.

I do not support illegal immigration or amnesty for illegal immigrants already in this country, period. I support immigration, but people must do it legally. Amnesty rewards illegal conduct and only increases the number of illegal immigrants who try to enter America as we have seen in the previous amnesties in 1986 and 1996. As a former judge for over 22 years, I believe very strongly in the respect for the rule of law. I never let anyone get away with breaking the law and immigration laws should be no different. We must vigorously enforce the laws we already have on the books and make some of them stronger. No protest or political statement will change my respect for our nation's laws and our sovereignty. In fact, recent demonstrations have just made me and many Americans more resolute in our convictions.

We must not forget how the tragic events of September 11th demonstrated the need for heightened security. The 9/11 Commission Report stated that terrorists seek to exploit our vulnerabilities. Our border remains one of those serious vulnerabilities. I have had the opportunity on two recent occasions to travel to the U.S. - Mexico border in Texas to witness the situation first-hand. Our border, sadly, remains wide open. While the Border Patrol apprehends a million illegal crossers each year, half a million slip through their reach; among them are people seeking to work illegally, human smugglers, drug smugglers, and even possible terrorists. In 2004, the Border Patrol apprehended 650 people from countries that are state sponsors of terrorism. How many were Border Patrol not able to apprehend? How do we know they didn't bring weapons of mass destruction along with them? These are serious questions that need serious answers.

Solving this crisis will not be easy as there are many who want amnesty and support policies that promote more illegal immigration and lawlessness. These are unacceptable in a post 9/11 world. I believe we can start by enforcing the law and showing we are serious about it. We also need to eliminate policies in this country that encourage and ignore illegal immigration; including easy access to jobs with little enforcement of employers who hire illegals, free healthcare, free education, birthright citizenship, policies that don't promote assimilation, and the inability of local law enforcement to assist federal immigration authorities.

I am a cosponsor and have voted on legislation in the 109th Congress that address many of these problems. One of them is H.R. 4437, the Border Protection, Antiterrorism, and Illegal Immigration Control Act of 2005, which passed the House of Representatives in December 2005. This bill is a strong border security bill that makes it a felony to be illegally in the country, forces employers to use an employment verification system to ensure that current and future employees are authorized to work, and provides more resources for law enforcement on the border. The U.S. Senate is currently debating a separate bill that includes a guest worker program for the estimated 11 million illegals in the U.S. along with the House border security provisions. I believe this is the wrong approach. We must first secure the border and fix the root of the problem before addressing broader immigration reform.

News You Won't Hear From The Media

This from the latest episode of Iraqi Freedom veterans, and other military personnel, publicly stating their discontent with media coverage.  Remember when Matt Lauer got owned by Capt. Sherman Powell?  Lauer had asked Capt. Powell what he would say to people back home who doubted that morale was high in Iraq.  Capt. Powell responded by saying: “Well sir, I’d tell you, if I got my news from the newspapers I’d be pretty depressed as well.”  Then there’s Sgt. Seavey and Gen. Wagner countering the myth of low morale, and the audience of the morning shows demanding more positive news stories from Iraq.

We must remember that the elitists don’t think that military personnel’s informed opinions count.  Who could forget Richard Belzer’s diatribe about our warriors: “..That’s bull—t: ask them!  They’re not informed, they don’t read twenty newspapers a day.  They’re under the threat of death every minute.  They’re not the best people to ask about the war because they’re gonna’ die any second.  You know, the soldiers are not scholars, they’re not war experts…“ 

People always say they support the troops, but not the war. I find this very ironic since the troops support the war.  How can you support the troops if you don’t support the mission they support?  Here is an excerpt from an email comment on a left wing web site:  “Whether the troops support the mission is irrelevant.  They are soldiers, they (have given their lives to be ordered) (sic), it is up to us to see what lamebrains like you can’t see.” 

So our military’s opinion is ‘irrelevant’?  Guess Belzer wasn’t alone in his belief that those who’ve never served know how to fight a war better than those trained to do so.

The media consistently fails to tell you about all the little great things in Iraq.  There’s rarely any mention of the school houses built, children playing with our soldiers, Iraqis wearing the clothes they want or expressing religious freedom for the first time.  These stories are bumped from the nightly news, and buried in the middle of the paper … if mentioned at all.  The media also always avoids military criticism of their reporting.

Other news you never hear from the media:

Recently captured al-Quaida documents contains strong evidence of fear, doubt and impending defeat. It seems five years of continual defeat (and that is what the record is) have shaken the 9-11 certitude of al-Qaida’s senior fanatics.

Al-Qaida’s leaders fear they are losing the war for hearts and minds. Atiyah senses a souring of “the hearts of the people toward us.” Al-Qaida has long sanctioned the murder of Muslim opponents it labels “corrupt” and apostate. However, Atiyah indicates Zarqawi’s terror in Iraq has backfired. Atiyah says killing the popular “corrupt” is “against all of the fundamentals of politics and leadership.” He warns “against all acts that alienate.”

Coalition forces in Iraq have suddenly received the manpower equivalent of three light infantry divisions. They did not suffer any repercussions in domestic politics as a result, and now have a huge edge over al-Qaeda in al-Anbar province. How did this happen? Tribal leaders in the largely Sunni province on the Syrian border got together and signed an agreement to raise a tribal force of 30,000 fighters to take on foreign fighters and terrorists.

These leaders have thrown in with the central government in Baghdad. This is a decisive blow to al Qaeda, which has been desperately trying to fight off an Iraqi government that is getting stronger by the week. Not only are the 30,000 fighters going to provide more manpower, but these tribal fighters know the province much better than American troops .. or the foreign fighters fighting for al Qaeda. Also, this represents just over 80 percent of the tribes in al-Anbar province now backing the government.

I’m not big on polls, but the media is.  So why aren’t they telling you about a poll of 1,150 Iraqis in Sept. by Program on International Policy Attitudes?  That poll shows that 63% of those Iraqis want the U.S. to stay in Iraq a year or longer.  Perhaps because it backs up the notion that we are doing some good, aren’t in a stalemate, and certainly not losing.  This poll also keeps with the news we are getting out of Iraq that Iraqis fear the death squads … not U.S. troops.  We also know that the prisoners at Abu Ghraib want American troops back at the prison.  There goes the anti-war fruit’s argument that we are torturous monsters, eh?  The Iraqi President doesn’t seem to want U.S. troops to leave either.  Here’s what he had to say last month:

Iraqi President Jalal Talabani said that the US military presence in Iraq keeps neighbors from invading his country. “The American presence has always prevented any kind of foreign invasion to Iraq,” Talabani said. “That’s one of the main reasons why we think that we need an American presence, even symbolical, in the country to prevent our neighbors attacking us,” he said at a forum at the Woodrow Wilson Center, a Washington think thank.

Russian Bear Awakening ?

Under Putin, Russia has seen seven years of robust economic growth, partly driven by the ever-rising price of the country's main export, petroleum.  This has given rise to a new form of Russian nationalism.

The murder of the dissident journalist in Russia is yet another of growing changes occurring in Russia largely as a result of Vladomir Putin’s  new policies of more state control.  It may well be that the Russian bear is awakening after 15 years of hibernation.

"The official model imposed by the authorities is a monopoly over the economy, business, politics, ideology, and civil society," says Andrei Illaryonov, who was forced to resign as the Kremlin's chief economic adviser last December for speaking out of turn. "We must stand for alternatives, the right of people to openly debate these alternatives and freely choose for themselves."

Experts say Russian society has indeed polarized between a majority that accepts reduced freedoms in exchange for order and prosperity and a minority that doesn't. A June poll conducted by the state-run Public Opinion Research Center found 49 percent of Russians "happy" with the country's political situation, against 18 percent who said they were unhappy.

Russia is the lead protagonist against any sanctions of Iran, mainly because they have contracts at present worth $ 1 billion plus to provide Iran with nuclear technology joined by France and Germany.

Russia has long been anti-Israel and has sought to gain a foothold in the Middle East for over two centuries.  It appears that the camel’s nose may be in the tent.  By October 10th, they will have 300 engineers in Lebanon, supposedly to assist in rebuilding of bridges destroyed in the Israeli/Hezbollah conflict and not under the auspices of  UN forces.  Now, what is their next step?  Who is to say they will not send in combat troops next…and who will throw them out?

Once More Republicans Late on the Uptake

Yet again, the Republicans have allowed the Democrats the first move in putting out their lies concerning N. Korea's nuclear test.  When they should have immediately pointed out that this is a result of Bill Clinton being preempted by Jimmy Carter's foreign policy.  Slick Willie very obligingly gave N. Korea a $ 4.6 billion bribe not to pursue nuclear weapons and then proclaimed that this action would prevent any more nuclear proliferation on the Korean peninsula.  We now know that Kim Il Jong used this money to procure nuclear reactors.  Now Democrats have preempted the issue with their accusations against President Bush and of course the main stream jackals are going to push it to the brink.  Republicans now have to weather another barrage of Democratic lies  because they  did  act quickly enough. Score One For Clinton & Carter

Bill Clinton has been actively seeking to establish his legacy for some time now...this has to rank very high as part of that legacy.  As for Jimma...he is always just dangerously close to treason.  What a pair.

As of this writing in the early morning hours of October 9, President Bush is expected to announce that North Korea has conducted an underground nuclear test. Unlike the abortive launch in July, last night’s explosion netted the Stalinist gulag valuable information and packed a lethal impact.

The Dear Leader’s nuclear test could not have occurred without Bill Clinton’s decade of dalliance. Clinton could have obliterated the Yongbyong reactor with one strike when he first learned of North Korea’s covert nuclear program in 1994. Instead, he allowed Jimmy Carter’s private foreign policy to preempt him. Upon completing the “Agreed Framework” in 1994, Clinton stated, “This agreement will help achieve a vital and long-standing American objective: an end to the threat of nuclear proliferation on the Korean peninsula.” We now know the $4.6 billion bribe gave the Communists the two nuclear reactors they used to create their current arsenal.

Abortion

Here's an item from [Real World View] that just yanks at the old heart strings...there are other liberal, feminist bloggers bemoaning her fate and asking for donations through PayPal.

Last month, feminist blogger Biting Beaver wrote about a nightmarish experience she'd had with a broken condom and a callous medical system that refused to give her emergency contraception over the counter or by prescription. Instead of getting medical care during the critical 72-hour window of opportunity, BB was stalled, humiliated, scorned, quizzed, and deceived. A nurse tried to tell her that EC was "the abortion pill" other healthcare providers grilled her about her sexual history and her marital status. Her pharmacy wouldn't sell it to her OTC, her doctor wouldn't call in a prescription, and the local emergency rooms wouldn't give her a 'scrip because she wasn't raped or married.

it seems to me a reasonable idea that dysfunctional idiots like this be encouraged to not breed in the first place. There's simply no room at the zoo.

As I posted this morning the EC failed and I'm currently taking other steps while I gather the money I need to finish this thing once and for all. Every time I think about it I refer to this fetus as a 'parasite', a 'tick' and other things I won't even mention. I  resent this fetus. I resent the f*ck out of the fact that something which is 1/16 of an inch long and which looks amazingly like a reptile trumps the life of a woman and her three children. I resent that this glob of cells which is smaller than a wad of snot is clearly valued more than the life of a 34 year old woman who is trying like h*ll to support her existing kids.

No sooner did Congress authorize construction of a 700-mile fence on the U.S.-Mexico border last week than lawmakers rushed to approve separate legislation that ensures it will never be built, at least not as advertised, according to Republican lawmakers and immigration experts.GOP leaders have singled out the fence as one of the primary accomplishments of the recently completed session. Many lawmakers plan to highlight their $1.2 billion down payment on its construction as they campaign in the weeks before the midterm elections.

But shortly before recessing Friday, the House and Senate gave the Bush administration leeway to distribute the money to a combination of projects -- not just the physical barrier along the southern border.  The funds may also be spent on roads, technology and "tactical" infrastructure" to support the Department of Homeland Security's preferred option of a "virtual fence."

UN Sanction NK-What a Joke!

UNITED NATIONS (AP) — The U.N. Security Council urged North Korea on Friday to cancel a planned nuclear test and return immediately to talks on scrapping its nuclear weapons program, saying that exploding such a device would threaten international peace and security. [Full Story Here]

A statement adopted unanimously by the council expressed "deep concern" over North Korea's announcement.

It was read at a formal meeting by the council president, Ambassador Kenzo Oshima of Japan, and warned of unspecified council action if North Korea ignores international calls not to conduct a test.

Oshima indicated that the North could face sanctions or possible military action (Yeah, sure! When pigs fly!) under Chapter 7 of the U.N. Charter if it detonates a nuclear device. Chapter 7 outlines actions the council can take to deal with threats to international peace, and he stressed that the statement clearly says a nuclear test would constitute such a threat.
