Killer Bee

Jurusalem papers reported on Friday that Israel is working on the development of a weapon [Link] about the size of a hornet, that could chase, photograph and kill targets in otherwise unreachable locations.  It would be capable of navigating alleyways, doorways and hidden locations inaccessible to conventional forces.  A weapon of this type would drastically reduce collateral damages and unnecessary deaths.  Can you imagine the use of this weapon by U.S. police in inner city situations?

It is one of several weapons currently being developed which also include “bionic man” gloves that would give super-human strength to its user.  These developments came as a result of the Lebanese war…when Israel discovered that using a $100 million dollar jet against a terrorist is highly illogical.

Uniformed Legislators-Serious Problem

This is an issue that I have often wondered about...why aren't our legislators mentioning anything about the seriousness of the fight we are engaged in with Islam?  If Boehner's attitude is representative of our other legislators...we as a nation should be very alarmed.

Yesterday the blogosphere’s series of interviews with the leadership candidates for the Republican House Conference came to a close.

The last member to walk into our virtual interrogation center was John Boehner, a candidate for minority leader.

When asked about reading blogs...I expected an answer of Powerline or Instapundit, etc., however, as with the three previous candidates...he answered none, instead, he leaves that to his staff and then reads their briefs.  As was the case with three previous conference call attendees, I asked Boehner this question:

What books have you read about Islamic terrorism against America and the West?

None of the three were able to name a single book. Boehner followed suit, saying that he had read books on the subject but that he couldn't’t give me any names.

The questioner then fired off a follow up: From where does the congressman get his news? Boehner told us that he gets his news mostly from the newspapers.

When you think about it, Boehner’s series of answers regarding his reading habits and the insight we’ve received regarding other members’ reading habits (or lack thereof) can help us make sense of a lot of things.

Now imagine if you didn’t read blogs and didn’t read books. Picture all the things that you know now that you wouldn’t know if you left your news gathering to the tender mercies of the mainstream media’s editorial decisions. You’d probably be unaware of the ghastly fate that awaits 200 French automobiles each evening at the hands of rampaging “youths.” You’d definitely be unaware of the youths’ affiliation with certain religious practices.

If all your news came from newspapers, you wouldn’t understand how numerous, determined and flat-out crazy our enemies are. You wouldn’t know how widespread the phenomenon of Radical Islam is because the New York Times, USA Today and the Wall Street Journal don’t report it. Every now and then you would stumble over an editorial or op-ed piece highlighting a particularly pathological incident, but you would have no concept of how massive the problem is.

AND THIS IS WHERE WE CLOSE THE LOOP. I’ve long wondered how our leaders can be so uninformed about the fight we’re in given the existential stakes. Now I get it – they just don’t understand the stakes. The newspapers haven’t told them that we’re in a fight for our lives. Lord knows the intelligence agencies don’t get it. And now we know the congressmen themselves take either no or precious little initiative to educate themselves.

So on the left you get relentless partisanship because they don’t understand that there are larger issues involved. On the right you get mantra-like chanting of “We must win in Iraq” but with little understanding of how the battle in Iraq fits in with the greater war. This explains why we haven’t heard a single one of our leaders offer a vision of how we’re going to not only “win” in Iraq but how we’re also going to “win” in Iran, Egypt, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Syria, etc. They do not grasp the size of our challenge.

So what to do? If our congressmen have no interest in educating themselves, we must take it upon ourselves to do it for them. For too long our congressmen have been victims of the soft bigotry of low expectations. We’ve allowed them to skate by kissing babies and appearing on Hannity & Colmes without insisting that they actually bring themselves up to speed on the most pressing issue of our day.

Pelosi Satire

By: G.Marnier - SatireNewsService

After much speculation by California voters, Democrat Liberalista U.S. Representative Nancy Pelosi supported Arnold Schwerzenegger's bid to be Governor after he announced that if elected, he would raise taxes in the state.

Pelosi is nationally recognized as a champion of anti-war protesters; military bashers; late-term abortion advocates; environmentalists; homosexual, bi-sexual, tri-sexual, trans-sexual, multi-sexual and sexually unidentified voters and those who oppose tax cuts because such action would affect government funding of the afore mentioned agendas.

At a press conference following her endorsement, Pelosi was asked by Peter Jennings of ABC about her views on the Middle-East crisis: "I see no connection between Iraq, Osama bin Laden, al-Qaida and what the Republican's are calling 'terrorism'. We don't live there. What do we know?"

After telling Jennings to stop clapping and jumping up and down and blocking other people's view, a reporter for SNS asked Pelosi if stories about  womanizing, drug use and nude photographs circulating on the internet were true, did she think that was an appropriate resume for the governor of a state.

"This is California. We understand those things. People have to express themselves by their own standards. That's what liberalism is all about."

P.S.   BTW, expressing yourself by their own standards is a doctrine of Islam...Takfir...each is free to choose their own way of worship (except when you disagree with them.)

Chink in the Armor?

This is good news.  Perhaps a chink in the armor of the steel-skirted Pelosi?  This vote was significantly one-sided…and can only be viewed as a weakening of her domineering leadership of the Democratic party.  We can only hope that this trend will continue and lead to toning down Nancy’s radical left agenda.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A week after winning back control of the U.S. Congress, divided Democrats in the House defied incoming speaker Nancy Pelosi on Thursday and elected Steny Hoyer to be majority leader, a Democratic Party aide said.

Pelosi, a California liberal, had endorsed Rep. John Murtha of Pennsylvania, who helped lead the charge against the Iraq war that was a key factor in races for the House of Representatives and the Senate.

The aide said the vote behind closed doors was 149-86.

But Democrats embraced Hoyer, a Maryland moderate who has been Pelosi's deputy while she served the past three years as minority leader. The two have had a somewhat strained relationship.

Pelosi, as expected, was officially nominated to be the first woman speaker of the House.

Troop Withdrawals-Many Views

Immediate withdrawal...oops, maybe not so fast coming from the NY Times no less ...and a third view asking policymakers to understand what they are really up against.   Read all three stories and much more.

Reid Pledges to Press Bush on Iraq Policy

(CNSNews.com) - Sen. Harry Reid, the incoming majority leader, says President Bush still doesn't understand the urgent need to change course in Iraq, the Washington Post reported. Reid said Democrats will quickly press for phased troop withdrawals and a more international approach. He said Democrats will keep the heat on the Bush administration through hearings on the war - and with calls for a regional Middle Eastern conference and a revitalized Iraqi reconstruction effort. Reid said one of the first acts of the new Democratic Congress will be a $75-billion boost to the military budget to get the Army's diminished units back into combat shape.

NY Times Report Questions Wisdom of Immediate Troop Withdrawal

(CNSNews.com) - A report in Wednesday's New York Times cautions that an immediate withdrawal from Iraq - as some Democrats are advocating - may not be the way to go, after all. The notion "is being challenged by a number of military officers, experts and former generals, including some who have been among the most vehement critics of the Bush administration's Iraq policies," the report said. Those experts say "the situation in Baghdad and other parts of Iraq is too precarious to start thinning out the number of American troops. In addition, they worry that some Shiite leaders would see the reduction of American troops as an opportunity to unleash their militias against the Sunnis and engage in wholesale ethnic cleansing to consolidate their control of the capital."

Author Examines 'War' Against Non-Muslims

Washington (CNSNews.com) - Western policymakers need to "undertake a systematic study" of Islamic theology and law before they can understand the goals and motives of terrorists who are working to subjugate or convert non-Muslim populations, a scholar on Islam told a gathering in Washington on Tuesday. It would be a mistake to assume that Islam has been "hijacked," argued Robert Spencer, the author of a recent book on the prophet of Islam, Mohammed. Terrorists and extremists targeting American interests today are making use of the actual text in the Koran and the teachings of their prophet, he said. But a spokesman for an Islamic advocacy group called Spencer a "leading Islamophobe" who has written "bone chilling" comments on his website that incite unfounded and unjustified hatred of Muslims.

The Growing Threat

The German author Henryk M. Broder recently told the Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant (12 October) that young Europeans who love freedom, better emigrate. Europe as we know it will no longer exist 20 years from now. Whilst sitting on a terrace in Berlin, Broder pointed to the other customers and the passers-by and said melancholically: “We are watching the world of yesterday.”

Europe is turning Muslim. As Broder is sixty years old he is not going to emigrate himself. “I am too old,” he said. However, he urged young people to get out and “move to Australia or New Zealand. That is the only option they have if they want to avoid the plagues that will turn the old continent uninhabitable.”

Many Germans and Dutch, apparently, did not wait for Broder’s advice. The number of emigrants leaving the Netherlands and Germany has already surpassed the number of immigrants moving in. One does not have to be prophetic to predict, like Henryk Broder, that Europe is becoming Islamic. Just consider the demographics. The number of Muslims in contemporary Europe is estimated to be 50 million. It is expected to double in twenty years. By 2025, one third of all European children will be born to Muslim families. Today Mohammed is already the most popular name for new-born boys in Brussels, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and other major European cities.

Broder is convinced that the Europeans are not willing to oppose islamization. “The dominant ethos,” he told De Volkskrant, “is perfectly voiced by the stupid blonde woman author with whom I recently debated. She said that it is sometimes better to let yourself be raped than to risk serious injuries while resisting. She said it is sometimes better to avoid fighting than run the risk of death.”

In a recent op-ed piece in the Brussels newspaper De Standaard (23 October) the Dutch (gay and self-declared “humanist”) author Oscar Van den Boogaard refers to Broder’s interview. Van den Boogaard says that to him coping with the islamization of Europe is like “a process of mourning.” He is overwhelmed by a “feeling of sadness.” “I am not a warrior,” he says, “but who is? I have never learned to fight for my freedom. I was only good at enjoying it.”

As Tom Bethell wrote in this month’s American Spectator: “Just at the most basic level of demography the secular-humanist option is not working.” But there is more to it than the fact that non-religious people tend not to have as many children as religious people, because many of them prefer to “enjoy” freedom rather than renounce it for the sake of children. Secularists, it seems to me, are also less keen on fighting. Since they do not believe in an afterlife, this life is the only thing they have to lose. Hence they will rather accept submission than fight. Like the German feminist Broder referred to, they prefer to be raped than to resist.

“If faith collapses, civilization goes with it,” says Bethell. That is the real cause of the closing of civilization in Europe. Islamization is simply the consequence. The very word Islam means “submission” and the secularists have submitted already. Many Europeans have already become Muslims, though they do not realize it or do not want to admit it.

Some of the people I meet in the U.S. are particularly worried about the rise of anti-Semitism in Europe. They are correct when they fear that anti-Semitism is also on the rise among non-immigrant Europeans. The latter hate people with a fighting spirit. Contemporary anti-Semitism in Europe (at least when coming from native Europeans) is related to anti-Americanism. People who are not prepared to resist and are eager to submit, hate others who do not want to submit and are prepared to fight. They hate them because they are afraid that the latter will endanger their lives as well. In their view everyone must submit.

This is why they have come to hate Israel and America so much, and the small band of European “islamophobes” who dare to talk about what they see happening around them. West Europeans have to choose between submission (islam) or death. I fear, like Broder, that they have chosen submission – just like in former days when they preferred to be red rather than dead.

Blue Dog Democrats

Newt Gingrich brought up a point today in Newsmax about all the new moderate to conservative Democrat representatives in the House. (Blue Dog Democrats) I had been wondering during the day how these Congressmen are going to vote when the radical leadership brings up bills that are far left.  Are they going to march lock-step with radical left leadership or vote their consciences? There are now 50+ of these blue dog democrats and it seems that there would be room for Republicans to work with them and advance their agenda unless the Democrat leadership bullies them into line.  On the other hand, if they do vote their consciences...then the Democrats may run into some problems getting their far left agenda items passed.  Just a thought.
