Border Fence is not the Solution

The much bally-hooed border fence legislation passed recently is just another unfunded mandate.  Estimates of the cost of such a project run upwards to $ 9.4 billion.  It is a fence that will never be built and rightly so.  We already have laws against illegal immigration, we just need to put the steps in place to enforce them...such as FAIR's proposal as defined below and the costs are offset by savings. This  makes much more sense to me...am I missing  something?

Under Title 8 Section 1325 of the U.S. Code, "Improper Entry by Alien," any citizen of any country other than the United States who:

  • Enters or attempts to enter the United States at any time or place other than as designated by immigration officers; or
  • Eludes examination or inspection by immigration officers; or
  • Attempts to enter or obtains entry to the United States by a willfully false or misleading representation or the willful concealment of a material fact;

has committed a federal crime.

Violations are punishable by criminal fines and imprisonment for up to six months. Repeat offenses can bring up to two years in prison. Additional civil fines may be imposed at the discretion of immigration judges, but civil fines do not negate the criminal sanctions or nature of the offense.

Also see the following...........

Illegal Immigration is a Crime

Each year the Border Patrol is making more than a million apprehensions of persons who flagrantly violate our nation's laws by unlawfully crossing U.S. borders to work and to receive public assistance, usually with the aid of fraudulent documents. Such entry is a misdemeanor, and if repeated becomes punishable as a felony. Over four million illegal immigrants live in the United States--some estimate over five million--and, this does not include the nearly three million aliens amnestied under the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.

BORDER PATROL: NECESSARY BUT NOT SUFFICIENT
The problems along the southern border are severe, yet manageable. However, simply stacking Border Patrol agents at the border is only a partial solution. Illegal immigration cannot be controlled solely at the border. About half of the illegal alien population is comprised of visa overstayers--people who entered the country legally, but became illegal aliens by their failure to leave the U.S. upon expiration of their visa. Once entry occurs, there is little chance of detection and virtually no chance of deportation, except for convicted criminals.

WHAT CAN WE DO?

"TEN STEPS TO ENDING ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION"

We need a comprehensive program, as set out in FAIR's publication Ten Steps to Controlling Illegal Immigration. Curtailing unlawful migration means ensuring that persons who enter illegally or overstay their lawful status will not be able to obtain employment, public assistance benefits, public education, public housing, or any other social benefit without detection. The three major components of immigration control--deterrence, apprehension and removal-- need to be strengthened by Congress and the Executive Branch if effective control is ever to be reestablished. Controlling illegal immigration requires a balanced approach with a full range of enforcement improvements that go far beyond the border. These include many procedural reforms, beefed up investigation capacity, asylum reform, documents improvements, major improvements in INS detention and deportation procedures, limitations on judicial review, improved intelligence capacity, much better state/federal cooperation and added resources.

WHAT ABOUT THE COSTS?
As the saying goes, "There is no free lunch." Effective control and management of the laws against illegal immigration require adequate resources. But, the costs will be more than offset by savings to states, counties, communities, and school districts across the nation.

Democrats & Christians

There has been a lot written lately about the Democrats embracing the Christian right in order to erode some of the Republican base.  When you take a look at the morality and ethics of the left, I don’t know how any Christian could ever support them.  Most of the liberal Democrats continually scorn and ridicule Christian values and ideals.

The Democratic Party of the 1930s and '40s was in many ways the natural home of American Christians.  Patriotic and the self-proclaimed champion of the common man, it appealed strongly to millions of working-class, first- and second-generation  immigrants who had proudly embraced their new home in America. But it also stood for the Christian morals that both Catholics and Protestants respected - as well as a respect for the rights of property, and a staunch opposition to communism and socialism, that members of the Clergy enunciated.  But all that changed in the 1960's, with the rise of a new kind of Democrat: wealthy, secular, ideological. So complete this transformation has been that we no longer speak of a natural alliance between Christians and the Democratic Party.  It is instead, a total dichotomy of values.

America Isolated?

The rest of the world’s political attitude is fast approaching a situation where America is going to have to go it alone.  European and Islamist anti-Americanism is threatening to leave us isolated in the world.  This global situation is quickly reaching the point in which America will have to confront the enemies of civilization without help from anyone. Of course, this situation is severely compounded by the attitude of the fifth column, the Liberal left.  When the world is divided between America and the rest, those of us not wishing to see the world enveloped by the Dark Ages should hope that America wins.

October Surprise

Karl Rove announced recently that he had an October surprise coming.  Some of the possibilities as follows:

* It is revealed which Democrat members of Congress are part of al Qaeda and shoot them on live television. Ted Kennedy dies screaming, "Allah akhbar!"
* All of the Republican Congress go into a closed door session. Later, only a few emerge covered in blood and announce, "The Republican party is now smaller but stronger."
* Zawahiri is captured and he is forced to convert to Christianity on video while taking a new Christian name: Bob.
* Finally, the frozen body of Osama bin Laden that we all know Karl Rove has had hidden all this time is taken out and defrosted. It then staged of him being personally shot by President Bush as he supposedly invades a fund raiser.
* After a mysterious meeting between President Bush, Halliburton, Exxon, and OPEC, gas drops to $0.25 a gallon.
* A simultaneous invasion of Iran and France is launched. The two populations are switched. No notable change of attitude is noticed in either country.
* John Bolton mysteriously leaves in the middle of a U.N. Security Council. Seconds later, the entire building explodes. Numerous federal agencies claim responsibility.
* It is announced that the reason Kissinger has been meeting with the President is that Vietnam has been secretly invaded and is now under the control of the U.S., and thus the Vietnam War has been won (waiting them out then hitting them when they least expected it was Kissinger’s plan all along). Now, comparisons of Iraq to Vietnam means there will be a stunning victory when you least expect it.

Rosie O'DonkeyMouth

These remarks came from Rosie O’DonkeyMouth…in a discussion about gun control on The View,  precipitated by the Amish killings.

First, she claims that the 2nd Amendment is not a right!

O’Donnell: "Well, it’s not really a right. There’s debate as to what that---
Interrupting her, Hasselbeck: "It is a right. It’s
in our Constitution. It’s the Second Amendment."
O'Donnell: There is debate about that.        (????????)

Second,  this has to rank as one of stupidest, looniest remarks of the decade.

O’Donnell: "Right. Because it is a $6 billion industry. And they have way too much power in a democracy, if you ask me."

Barbararians at the Gate

I know many of you have posted concerning this and some of you may have read this article on Human Events...but I think it bears a lot of repeating and whatever small efforts we can make to get out our voters in November.

Election 2006: Barbarians at the Gate
By Rod D. Martin

In June of last year, Rep. John Conyers staged a mock hearing into impeachment charges against President Bush concerning Iraq.

According to Washington Post reporter Dana Milbank, Detroit's loony-left congressman "banged a large...gavel and got the other lawmakers to call him 'Mr. Chairman.''" Milbank wrote that Conyers was enjoying himself so much, he ignored his aides' pleas to stop the session.

Conyers, the House Judiciary Committee's senior Democrat, is among the rabid cast of characters ready to rule if conservatives don’t turn out to vote this fall.

All it takes is 15 House seats to go Democrat -- and then the "fun" begins.

At the top: Nancy Pelosi, the radical San Francisco Democrat, would become House Speaker.

Pelosi supports gay marriage, taxpayer-funded abortions for women in the military and strict gun control laws.

She’s also apparently given Conyers the nod on impeachment hearings. They will tear the country apart, with the full-throated support of the same media that saved Bill Clinton; they will make it impossibly dangerous for any country to be a U.S. ally; and they will give Osama bin Laden (and Saddam, and Ahmadinejad, and Chavez, and Kim Jong Il) the ultimate gift, all for the advancement of their party and their agenda of insane Bush hate.

And how about Maryland's Steny Hoyer as House majority leader?  Even the liberal Washington Post deems him one of the top ten pork-barrel spenders. Are Republicans spending too much? No question about it. But you ain’t seen nothin’ like this.

And for House majority whip, try Chicago's brass-knuckles pit bull Rahm Emanuel. The former Clinton finance director is one of the most radical pro-aborts in America; he was also one of the leading strategists behind Hillary Clinton’s failed plan to socialize health care.  Both issues are at the top of his agenda.

Then there's Barney Frank, who will head the Financial Services Committee. He founded the National Stonewall Democrats, his party's homosexual advocacy group.   And he'd like to force America not just to tolerate but to embrace the gay lifestyle, censuring anyone who disagrees. Certainly any attempt to pass a Marriage Protection Amendment would be as out as Frank himself.

There's also Charlie Rangel.  He wants to become Ways and Means Committee chairman and says he'll leave Congress if the Democrats don't make his dream real.

So if you vote this November, you'll not only help keep Charlie away from the nation's purse, but ensure his retirement from Capitol Hill.

Rangel has made clear he intends to repeal each and every Bush tax cut. That’s an almost $2 trillion tax hike, including the return of the marriage penalty and a real beating for the small businesses that have driven the current boom. And that’s just his warm-up act.

There’s more.  Stay home, and Henry Waxman gets to chair the Government Reform Committee, which is sort of like Libya or Iran chairing the UN panel on human rights (oh wait: these guys all support that too).

Besides backing HillaryCare, abortion on demand and draconian environmental rules, Waxman hopes to repeal the President's pro-abstinence programs for schoolchildren. A condom in every locker, a scalpel in every womb!

Assisting Waxman will be New York's appropriately-named Louise Slaughter, chairing the Rules Committee. She heads the Congressional Pro-Choice Caucus, and in her new position would single-handedly block all pro-life bills.

And we mustn’t forget John Murtha, who would chair the Appropriations Committee's Defense Subcommittee. Murtha intends to cut off all funding to our forces in Iraq, and would have the power to do it. Fifteen House seats -- which is to say, conservatives staying home -- is all that stands between us and a public surrender to al Qaeda.

Now let's be very clear:

Conservatives have a serious beef with Republicans who don't act like Republicans: RINOs, or “Republicans in Name Only”.

But a large majority of congressional Republicans are fine conservatives who have more than earned our support.  Punishing them for the sins of their RINO colleagues is pointless.

Punishing America is even dumber.  The place to fight liberal Republicans is the Republican primary. We gain nothing -- and lose what we’ve gained -- by handing power to people who make Arlen Specter look like Ron Paul. And the fact is, conservatives have made serious gains indeed, from missile defense to gun rights to the partial birth abortion ban. We risk losing those gains and a great deal more.

Our fellow conservatives need our help. So do our country and our children. For the sake of everything we hold dear, we better turn out in force this November. This is not the time to take our toys and go home.

Follow Up To Last Post

Immediately after making my last post, an article pertaining to Darrell Anderson was on Google News. This is an excerpt.

Lexington’s Darrell Anderson said he is no coward and called the war in Iraq illegal and immoral just minutes before turning himself into the Army, which he deserted almost two years ago.

After speaking to the media, Anderson left Colvin Community Center to drive to Fort Knox and face whatever punishment the Army imposes.
But Anderson’s attorney, Jim Fennerty, again said he has been told by the Army that Anderson will not be court-martialed and will be released within three to five days. He said Anderson then would be mailed an other- than-honorable discharge.

Anderson arrived here accompanied by his wife, Gail Greer; his mother, Anita Anderson; and his stepfather, Steve Dennis. Darrell Anderson left Canada, where he’d been staying to avoid returning to Iraq, for the United States on Sunday.

As Anderson entered the community center today, he drew applause from a few representatives of peace groups, including Military Families Speak Out, Veterans for Peace and Vietnam Veterans Against the War. One woman shouted “Thank you, Darrell thank you.” Among those speaking in support of Anderson was Lexington’s Don Pratt, who went to jail for refusing to serve in the Army during Vietnam.

As Anderson left the news conference, he was confronted by Les Powers, 83, a retired Army sergeant major who lives in Radcliff. “They should have shot you,” Powers shouted at Anderson’s vehicle. Anderson replied by giving Powers the peace sign.

In the midst of receiving accolades for being so courageous...'ya 'gotta love the Sgt Major.

Caught Dead in Iraq

Headline:  You wouldn’t catch me dead in Iraq

The Times is up to their same lies and exaggerations, first they announce some outrageous claim and then can’t back it up with facts.
Scores of American troops are deserting — even from the front line in Iraq.
If they deserted from the front line in Iraq...how did they get to Canada?  Hmmmm? An estimation by the Toronto lawyer of 200 deserters in Canada is not by any means the problem the Slimes makes it out to be. Deserters have been much more numerous in previous wars. There are a certain number that are going to desert regardless of the circumstances of war.
It is impossible to put a precise figure on the number of American troops  deserting the army as a result of the US involvement in Iraq. There is no doubt that a steady trickle of deserters who object to the Iraq war have made it over the border and are now living in Canada.  One Toronto lawyer, Jeffry House, has represented at least 20 deserters from Iraq in the Canadian courts; he is himself a conscientious objector, having refused to fight in the Vietnam war – along with 50,000 others, at the peak of the conflict. He estimates that 200 troops have already gone underground in Canada since the war in Iraq began.
The following is the part that totally chaps me and rips my shorts. These people are such a brave group...why just look at the circumstances that face them. Never mind that they have no integrity or are willing to stand up and face their responsibilities. GMAB !! They belong in jail.
These conscientious objectors are a brave group – their decisions will result in long-term life changes. To be labelled a deserter is no small burden. If convicted of desertion, they run the risk of a prison sentence – with hard labor. To choose exile can mean lifelong separation from family and friends, as even the most trivial encounter with the police in America – say, over a traffic offence – could lead to jail.
This example (Darrell Anderson) joined the US Army because he needed, he needed, he needed (sounds like a broken record). God forbid he should have to earn what he needed by performing actual duties that he took an oath to perform.
Darrell Anderson joined the US Army just before the Iraq war started.
“I needed health care, money to go to college, and I needed to take care of my daughter. The military was the only way I could do it,” he tells me. As we chat, basking in the sun on a peaceful Toronto street, he fiddles with his pocket watch, which has a Canadian flag on its face. He’s wearing a peace-symbol necklace.

Issues Are Not Important-Only Power

In the Democratic party's all-important quest for power…issues are secondary.

Democrats never campaign on current issues. They campaign on (a) smearing their opponents and assassinating their characters, (b) hyper overreaction, (c) attacking Republican activities as “failed”, (d) instilling fear in retired and elderly that the GOP is doing them a great wrong, (e) instilling fear in the poor and unemployed that GOP is shoring up huge wealthy corporations while dismantling government aid to the needy, (f) accusing Republicans of the very things they are actually guilty of.

What do Democrats do when in power? Grow government on the backs of the citizens, by way of raising taxes to pay for more and more government programs. What do government programs do? Take away individuality and create dependence on the government, which serves to empower the government. Power is the prize.

Democrats & Morality

Re: Foley Resignation
This is from Alittlemoretotheright.com...it is an excellent analysis of Democrat's Big Lie strategy and supported by the MSM.

Stupid Republicans can’t abide a guilty concience, or the suggestion of impropriety. Democrats have no moral qualms with lying, cheating, complete deception, twisting truth for political gain, spinning facts, character assassination, pompous accusation and holding Republicans to a moral standard they themselves routinely avoid like it was ebola. And it works for them. Republicans wouldn’t…couldn’t…smear opponents like liberals do. It isn’t in their ability. But if Democrats sat on some juicy scandal until the right time, it’s clinches their chances to win a majority.

So what about the timing? Will it damage Republicans in this year’s voting season? You bet. Mission accomplished. Dems are sanctimoniously - hypocritically - marching under the flag of moral fortitude, a flag completely alien to them. A flag they will quickly shed.
